What is net metering?
Net metering Pakistan is an electricity policy for consumers, who own / plan to setup a Renewable Energy facility Net. metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid. For example, if a residential customer has a PV system on their roof, it may generate more electricity than the home uses during daylight hours. If the home is net-metered, the electricity meter will run backwards to provide a credit against what electricity is consumed at night or other periods when the home's electricity use exceeds the system's output. Customers are only billed for their "net" energy use.
Principles for the Evolution of Net Metering and Rate Design:
In May 2017, SEIA worked with a broad array of stakeholders to develop a set of principles to guide the future of net metering and rate design.
Requirement of net metering The first and foremost requirement for a net metering system to be installed is the connection to the grid. This is the reason why the system only works with a grid-tie or a hybrid system and is not compatible with an off-grid system.
Net metering depends on:
The particular form of net metering depends on the agreement between the customer (and also producer of electricity from their own unit), the electricity trader and local utility company.
Why is metering important:
Reduce Electricity Bill
The most prominent benefit of Net Metering is that you can reduce your electricity bill a lot more than what you can do with a solar system without Net Metering. Net metering allows residential and commercial customers who generate their own electricity from solar power to sell the electricity they aren't using back into the grid. Without accurate data from the meter, it is impossible to maintain tight control over energy or water consumption, and that ultimately means no realistic control over utility bills either.
How to save our revenue?
Through net metering we can save our money and our utility bills every year, so it's a good reason to make the money-saving choice and go solar sooner rather than later. Net metering allows utility customers to generate their own electricity cleanly and efficiently. During the day, most solar customers produce more electricity than they consume net metering allows them to export that power to the grid and reduce their future electric bills
Is net metering expensive?
Net metering does not require expensive storage or battery systems and is easy & inexpensive to install.
Required Payment for Net Metering:
Payment Required for Net Metering Net Metering usually requires Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 120,000 in addition to the system amount. Global Energy is on a mission to make it easy for people to switch to solar energy. Consult with our solar experts and we can find a good solution for you.
Creating Jobs & Encouraging Private Investment:
Net metering provides substantial economic benefits in terms of jobs, income and investment. Net metering increases demand for solar energy, which in turn creates jobs for the installers, electricians, and manufacturers who work in the solar supply chain. Today, the solar industry employs more than 230,000 American workers in large part due to strong state net metering policies which have allowed the solar industry to thrive
